I Don't Want to Predict Everything

A system that produces an opinion about every event will look busy and learn very little. Some questions are badly specified. Some have no trustworthy resolution source. Some are outside the system's competence.

Abstention is part of prediction. “I do not know,” “not enough evidence,” and “the terms are ambiguous” are outcomes worth recording.

I would rather keep a small number of legible observations than manufacture a stream of certainty. The goal is not to sound prophetic. It is to notice whether a method deserves more trust over time.

Selectivity is not silence. It is the first filter against turning curiosity into noise.
